dressed to the nines

We opened a new exhibit at the Museum today: Dress Code. It's smart and cheeky and fun, and the mannequins are not at all creepy (as mannequins often are {especially since that episode of Doctor Who [Season 1, Episode 1: "Rose" may be watched instantly on Netflix. Good to know.] and also the movie Mannequin 2: On the Move [Booooo.]}).

OK, the arm nubs are a bit creepy, but the hair is the coolest. It's made from sewing interfacing and we cut and styled it for all the different time periods. Super-neat idea. I love it. There's also a peep-show with lady underthings (delicates and smalls) from the 1890s, the 1920s, and the 1990s. And there are corsets you can try on. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend the exhibit.

I guess while I'm on the subject of the Museum, I should mention that there's a possibility our state funding will be cut this year, which might force the Museum to close. Spokane has always been incredibly supportive of their Museum, so we're hopeful that regardless of the budget outcome, we'll be able to remain open. Our facebook page has information about what we're doing and what you can do to help. The Deal Planet (a Spokane and Coeur d'Alene coupon site owned by the publishers of Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Living magazine) is donating $1.00 for every sign-up. If you're local (are you local?), check it out here!
